Vintage Rolex Day-Date ref. 6611 in 18k yellow gold. Early pie-pan dial example with applied gold markers, original dauphine hands, fluted bezel, and automatic 1055 movement. An honest, unpolished watch with strong vintage character and the kind of case shape collectors usually hope to find untouched. Patina on portions of the dial and light markings, see photo for details of that, but nothing excessive for a vintage watch.
Serviced. Running and keeping time during light testing, with the day/date functions operating as expected. Powered by the Rolex cal. 1055 automatic movement. Notably, the watch still retains its original “butterfly” style rotor assembly, functioning correctly — a component commonly replaced or updated over the years on many early Day-Date examples. No box/no papers
This is not a restored or over-finished example. The case shows its age openly, with wear, scratches, and soft surface marks throughout from decades of use. The lugs remain thick and appear unpolished, though there is visible wear and erosion from bracelet use, especially around the spring bar areas. The dial has patina and spotting consistent with age, most noticeable in the upper right quadrant and around portions of the minute track. Hands and markers also show age. Crystal is brand new, old crystal included.
I’ve tried to photograph the watch honestly in direct lighting from multiple angles rather than hide imperfections.
Inside caseback stamped 6611. Movement and case serial numbers present.
Fitted on a high quality generic alligator skin strap with a generic buckle.
Please review all photos carefully as they are part of the description. Happy to answer questions or provide additional photos. Sold as a vintage watch with no warranty implied.
Make an offer, if it’s for a good cause I’ll entertain your price.
